The #EriceiraSoulSurfersGuesthouse is for everyone who, like us, loves the bright side of life and enjoys the pleasure of freedom, beauty & design, the luxury of simplicity, being in nature and doing nothing, but what feels good.
Whilst living our dream we are thinking of our future generations: Aligned with the UN-Goals on international sustainable development it is our goal to support four important matters:
PORTUGUESE TRADITION
We want to take part in maintaining the precious and unique Portuguese heritage by letting our guests know about the history of the Saloio region and all the great places, stories and products that are related to it.

Have you heard about the magical castle-town of Sintra or the medieval town of Γbidos? Did you know about the former Portuguese emperors wild Nature Park, the Tapada de Mafra, the protected Islands of Berlengas or the most western point of continental Europe, the Cabo da Roca? And how about the world famous Portuguese Lusitano horses and the historic West-Portuguese wine route?
All of the above have one thing in common: not only are they part of what forms the beautiful and unique Portuguese culture, at the same time are they only a stone’s throw away from our beautiful beach and fishermenβs town Ericeira!

We wish for good people to meet and slowly, but surely create a worldwide network of conscious and sustainably acting human beings. At the #EriceiraSoulSurfersGuesthouse, we support this process by offering an environment where guests come together and share their ideas.
Furthermore we take on the responsibilities of a private company in the local tourism sector: we want to ensure regional capacity building not only through creating employment and income opportunities, but through supporting participation, empowerment, education and knowledge building in the long run.
MOTHER NATURE
We are profoundly convinced that a healthy and clean environment is the key to a good life and a better future – here, in Ericeira and throughout the whole world. Our goal is to minimize our ecological footprint. In order to achieve this βREDUCE-REUSE-RECYCLE” is a key strategy for us: we save and reuse resources, like water and electricity wherever we can. Of course we separate waste and motivate our guests to do the same.
We offer our guests filtered drinking water so that they can refill their bottles instead of buying single-use plastics and much more!
Our furniture is mainly remodeled and upcycled by local professionals using regional building materials: this way we can not only secure that our profits stay in the region and motivate local growth instead of the inflow of money from tourism going to big multinationals. Also are we ensuring to use as little new raw materials as possible and to reduce CO2 emissions (GHG emissions) Β because of shorter distance logistics.

We strongly support the concepts of the economics of happiness and localization as well as the theory of Good Living.
Only if the local roots can grow strong and resilient will, the global economy thrive and transform to a more sustainable worldwide economy. Choosing local cultural techniques, working force, products and networking first and foremost is key to us!
Understanding both, the power and vulnerability of tourism and the income generated from it, is the base of our doing; promoting sustainable tourism in our region the goal of all our actions.
